I recommend this book to all professionals in the construction industry and engineering students. It touches all the aspects of Project Management with concise information and examples. Naturally, expert may wish to have more information on single chapters/subjcts (i.e. Cost Estimates, Scheduling, etc.) but it is not in the scope of this book to give too details but a comprehensive overview of Project Management.
I found very useful the following parts:
- Cash Flow Analysis, p. 78 (there is a clear example to prepare project cash-flow);
- Construction Contract Administration, p. 272;
- Every chapter has its own bibliography and list of resources and website that is very useful if you wish to study the in more details the subject described there.
I found useless the following parts:
- Historical Perspective p. 1. The reading is cool, but irrelevant for Project Management;
- Safety p. 520 is too philosophical;
- Building Construction Methods p. 475 cover mainly small projects and not mega projects.

Excellent source reference

This book is an excellent text for teaching construction management fundamentals. I have used it in both undergraduate and graduate courses and my students have valued its purchase (if not the price of the purchase).

It is a good overview publication, reasonably easy to read with a balance between technical and explanatory discussions. The book presents the material logically and the information flows well from one topic to the next.

Excellent Intro. to IFS for Clients and Therapists

I am a practicing psychotherapist that has been using IFS therapy with my clients. So far IFS has resonated with most of my clients. When I saw Dorie's book I thought it might be useful for my younger clients. While the book is great for children I have found that the book resonates with my adult clients. Today I shared the book with an adult client and it was like a light bulb turned on in her head. Dorie's book helped her make sense of how she experiences the world. IFS is a cutting edge mind-body therapy that helps individuals, couples and families deal with many different issues and problems. Dorie's book is an excellent introduction to IFS and resource for clients and therapists alike. The book is written in a clear and caring style. The illustrations are well done and help to explain basic IFS concepts to the reader. If you are interested in IFS buy this book!

Little Book, Big Ideas- A Must Read

I am so grateful for this little book that helps me see the big picture. Accesible and visually captivating, this book opens up the world of IFS in a non-threatening and gentle way. I highly recommend it to anyone begining on a personal journey with IFS.

A useful and distinct access to our internal families

I got this book a bit over a year ago, along with a lot of other "adult" books on Internal Family Systems (IFS). Recently, I've found myself returning to this one a lot.

Why? The others have great insight on IFS, and how to practice it. Internal Family Systems Therapy: New Dimensions is a very useful recent addition, for example. Get it!

But those books tend to appeal to our cerebral parts. Dorie's has a lot to say to our younger parts. A LOT!

So...it turns out that when clients want to know more about IFS, which I use as a coach, Dorie's book is often the one I'll pass one. It's especially great for clients whose question is more about getting OK with their parts and uncovering Self-energy. For some reason, the pictures and somewhat adult words work just great--to the point that one client assigned herself the task of "reading this book to her parts" a few times a week.

Perfect choice for story time or bed time

The Woods has everything I look for when I choose a good read aloud. It has large, vibrant, well defined illustrations with characters that are expressive and who will appeal to kids. It also has a magical read aloud flow and rhythm that just spills easily from the tongue. The timing is perfect with each spread as our young hero discovers all matter of terrifying things in the woods, and then learns they aren't so terrifying after all.

This story brings to mind Sendak's Where The Wild Things Are, thanks primarily to the young boy's blanket cape, trash can helmet and the play sword he wields when he makes his journey to The Woods. I love books that can empower kids to conquer their fears and this is a perfect example. When you add in the pro-sharing message, and what amounts to simply good story telling, you get an excellent choice to help allay any type of bedtime fear.

This one is also the perfect length for group sharing and is going into my permanent story time collection. Don't miss this gem of a story.

A Twist on Bedtime Fears

The beginning of this book conjures up memories of "Where the Wild Thing Are," but quickly changes gears as the main character encounters scares in the forest. With each encounter, he discovers that the scary creatures really have a simple desire (e.g. a night-light, hug, etc...).

The repetition in the book is fun as it enables kids to begin to predict what happens next. It also would be a great story to use with any child struggling with fears at bedtime. Hoppe offers a great model for how to imagine the monster under your bed differently!

Imaginative bedtime read

"The Woods" makes a wonderful bedtime story, especially for little ones who face bedtime fears. A young boy remains awake wondering what happened to his favorite bedtime toy, a stuffed bunny. He embarks on a search and rescue effort, bringing along his handy night-light to keep the monsters at bay. Well, as he walks in the "woods", searching for his bunny, he encounters several characters, who at first seem scary, but upon closer inspection, turn out to be benign.

The full-page color illustrations are delightful to look at and will capture any child's imagination. This makes for a perfect read aloud at bedtime.

"“Thorough” is an apt description for the content of this book. A specialist book on Meteorological Measurements is long overdue, and this book is welcome. If a book was destined for sensor system designers it would need to be a thick volume, but for meteorologists needing to have a less detailed description of instruments it is ideal....all scientists/engineers need to be conversant with sensor systems, albeit at a high level (ie. to know how a system works, not necessarily to design it!). About the Author
Giles Harrison is Professor of Atmospheric Physics at the Department of Meteorology�at the University of Reading, UK. The United States has run trade deficits for nearly 40 years now. Many are convinced that this is the primary factor explaining the migration of “American jobs” overseas, a stagnant economy, and our accelerating levels of inequality. A balanced trade policy, reducing trade deficits to near zero, will, it is claimed, support lower unemployment by keeping “good jobs” here, drive wages up rather than down, be more sustainable, and won't contribute to a collapse of the global economy.

But, there is an important truth of macroeconomics to be considered. “Exports are real costs; and Imports are real benefits.” So, the issue is, would we rather send fiat money to other nations and add to our real wealth in return, or would we rather add to their real wealth and get their fiat money, or our old fiat money back in return? Other things being equal, we'd prefer the first alternative rather than the second: trade deficits are better than trade surpluses, at least in the short run.

Other things are not equal, however, since if the Government running trade deficits does nothing to compensate for their shorter and longer-term effects, then these will create a political reaction de-stabilizing any trade policy resulting in continuous trade deficits. However, their negative effects can be avoided without implementing “balanced trade” as a continuous policy. How that can be done is the subject of this book. It looks at trade policy in the broader context of budgetary and fiscal policy, and the relations among the foreign, domestic private, and government sectors of the economy. And, since the trade balance impacts the private sector and the government balance, it argues for an integrative view of trade and fiscal policy in relation to public purpose, and also proposes changes to Government institutions to facilitate integrated trade and fiscal policy.

The book analyzes and critiques:: Free Trade Policy; Balanced Trade Policy (including Warren Buffett's proposal); three types of Fair Trade Policy; Trade for Public Purpose Policy; Impact Assessment for Trade Policy; Balanced Budget Fiscal Policy; Deficit Neutrality in the Long Run Fiscal Policy; Budgeting for Public Purpose Fiscal Policy; A Holistic Approach to Trade and Fiscal Policy; and A Critique of the Current Trade Deals. Finally, the concluding chapter presents the book’s many conclusions, including some about the pending trade deals being negotiated by the Obama Administration, and an agenda relating fiscal and trade policies to public purpose. That agenda calls for much larger levels of deficit spending by the Federal Government than we have now, and it contends that continuous budget deficits are both necessary and desirable for the foreseeable future.

Excellent. Strongly recommend it! Creates an urgently needed alternative to the current failed paradigm, one that integrates trade policy and fiscal policy. Firestone's new paradigm shows how to evaluate pending trade treaties such as the TPP and TTIP and why they should be rejected before they violate virtually every signatory's sovereignty.

A must for TRIZ practicioners, un libro de obligada lectura para los experimentados.

Few books about TRIZ are as thorough and comprehensive about all the main elements of the TRIZ method and body of knowledge. A very recommended book, not for b eginers although they will have a trusted reference manual written by one of the presently most respected authorities among TRIZ experts.

Pocos libros sobre TRIZ son tan comploetos y rigurosos como �ste del autor, que revisen y expliquen todos los elementos dle cuerpo de conocimiento de TRIZ. Es un libro muy recomendable para los experimentados en TRIZ, quiz� no para principiantes, pero lo pueden tener como libro de referencia sobre TRIZ escrito por una de las m�s respetadas autoridades sobre TRIZ en el mundo.

Mr. Petrov ha publicado un muy valioso recurso bibliogr�fico de TRIZ para las personas de habla hispana. Me atrever�a a decir que es m�s completo libro sobre TRIZ en este idioma, adem�s se codea con los mejores libros en ingl�s.

Para quienes deseen adentrarse en esta maravillosa ciencia, que hace posible lo imposible, que despierta y permite obtener un entendimiento de c�mo se conjugan las ideas y descubrimientos, de una manera sistem�tica: "Fundamentos de la Teor�a para la Soluci�n de los Problemas Inventivos, TRIZ" ser� un libro para usted.
